The Waunakee Police Department will be hosting its annual Bike Rodeo which is designed to promote safe riding habits and skills needed for young bike riders, ages 5-12. Free helmet fitting, free bike licensing, and a bike technician will be on hand to help identify mechanical issues of the kids' bikes. An activities checklist will be provided and if completed, all participants will receive a prize! Prize tickets will be drawn after the event and prizes delivered to the child's school. No need to register or sign up. This is a free event, just show up and enjoy! If you have any questions please contact Officer Asher Torbeck at 849-2109.

Memorial Day Parade Update

Waunakee's Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will take place on Monday morning. Parade line up will be at 10:00 AM at the Fire Station Parking lot. The parade starts at 10:30 AM marching east down Main Street, turning at Cross Street to end at the American Legion building. A pot luck will follow at the American Legion hosted by the American Post #360.

Residents normally serviced on Monday, May 29, 2017 through Thursday, June 1, 2017 will be serviced one day later than their normal pickup day due to the Memorial Day Holiday.

Village Hall Closed on Memorial Day

The Waunakee Village Hall located at 500 West Main Street will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2017 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.  Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.

The Citizen Service Representative must be comfortable answering a multi-line phone, assisting people at the front counter, and performing other complex clerical tasks. This position requires excellent phone skills, word processing proficiency, the ability to create and maintain spreadsheets, and the willingness to be productive in a fast-paced environment. Notice of Board of Review is scheduled for Thursday, June 1, 2017. It is recommended that you attend Open Book to discuss your property's assessment value with the assessor prior to appearing before the Board of Review. If you are not satisfied with your assessment value, you need to make arrangements with the Village Clerk's office to appear before the Board of Review. You must provide the Village Clerk with written or oral notice of your intent to file an objection by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. In addition, a written and signed for of objection to property assessment must be completed and filed with the Village Clerk's office.

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

The Letter Carrier National Food Drive will be May 13.  Postal customers are asked to place non-perishable food items in their mailboxes for their letter carriers to pick up.  All donations will be delivered to the local food pantry.

Friends of the Library Daylily and Book Sale

The sale will include more than 40 bare root fancy daylilies in a variety of colors, some grown by hybridizers. There will also be a book sale. Help us raise money for the new library! Donations of books are welcome, but please no plants! Waunakee High School students will be selling annuals and vegetables at the High School Greenhouse.

Creative Wall at the Hall with Wes Osterbur

Can you appreciate the time, uniqueness, and attention to detail that a custom made piece of furniture takes to create? Do you wish to support the local initiative promoting creativity and innovation in Waunakee? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, please make plans to stop in at the Village Hall to learn more! 

The Village Hall (500 West Main Street) currently has on display various custom woodworking items created by Wes Osterbur from OPA's Custom Woodworking. Make plans to stop in the Village Hall, during business hours, for the months of May and June. Open Book refers to a period of time before Board of Review when the completed assessment roll is open for examination. At Open Book, the assessor is allowed to make any changes that are necessary to perfect the assessment roll. Instructional materials on appealing an assessment value to the Board of Review will be available. Please schedule an appointment at the assessor's open book session before filing a formal objection for the Board of Review.

Appointments should be made by contacting Associated Appraisal Consultants, Inc. at (800) 721-4157. All persons who have questions or concerns pertaining to their property assessment are encouraged to contact the assessor throughout the year.
