Waunakee Styrofoam Collection @ Uniek

Did you know that Styrofoam makes up almost 30% of the space in our landfills?  Do your part and drop off Styrofoam at a local Waunakee business, Uniek Inc.  They will recycle it and make it into picture frames versus letting it go into our landfills.

When is the drop off?
Every 3rd Saturday of the month from 10:00 am-2:00 pm starting May 21, 2011.

Where is the drop-off site?
Uniek Inc:  805 Uniek Drive (at the end of the business park down from Culver's). A sign on the far right hand side of the building near the cul-de-sac will mark the exact drop off location.

How much styrofoam can I bring?
As long as everything you have is the type allowed, there is no limit to the amount you can bring.

Who can drop styrofoam off?
Anyone! Both Village of Waunakee residents and residents from surrounding communities can drop off styrofoam products. Even businesses can drop off items as long as they qualify as listed below.

What types of styrofoam and EPS WILL be accepted?
What will be accepted is clean #6 styrofoam, which is primarily block polystyrene packaging material. This is the bulky polystyrene that is used around computers, electronics, and other items. Clean cups and food packaging that have been washed clean will also be accepted. Printed or colored items will be accepted.

What types of styrofoam will NOT be accepted?
The program will not accept foam insulation board, takeout boxes, or any #6 styrofoam with food still in it.  Uniek also cannot accept #4 polyethylene foam packaging or sheets. This is commonly mistaken as styrofoam, but can be identified as it does not break easily nor does it make the small particles when broken like styrofoam does. Packing peanuts are NOT accepted.
