Styrofoam Collection at Uniek

Did you know that Styrofoam makes up almost 30% of the space in our landfills? You can do your part and drop off Styrofoam at one of our local businesses, Uniek, Inc. They will recycle it and make it into picture frames instead of letting it go into our landfills. Uniek, Inc. is located at 805 Uniek Drive here in Waunakee. Drop off times are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to drop off Styrofoam whether they are Waunakee residents or residents from surrounding communities. There is no limit to the amount you can bring; however, there are specific types of Styrofoam that will be accepted.

Recyclable Styrofoam

• Clean number 6 Styrofoam block polystyrene packaging material. This is the bulky polystyrene that is used around computers, electronics, and other items.
• Clean washed beverage cups.
• Clean washed food packaging.
• Printed or colored Styrofoam.

Non-Recyclable Styrofoam

• Foam insulation board.
• Unwashed food packaging.
• Number 4 polyethylene foam packaging or sheets. This is commonly mistaken as Styrofoam, but can be identified as it does not break easily nor does it break into small particles like Styrofoam does.
• Packaging peanuts
