Consider Volunteering at Project Graduation

Please consider volunteering at Project Graduation on Sunday, June 5 during the Midnight to 5:00 a.m. shift as a way to "pay it forward."

Project Graduation was created to help keep our kids safe on a night that is notorious for accidents and injuries with teens. Project Graduation is held at the High School immediately following the graduation ceremony each year from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and is supervised by parents and staff.

Click below for more details on volunteer sign ups for open shifts:

Open Shift Sign Up

If there are not enough Security and Activity Volunteers throughout the night, Project Graduation will be in danger of cancellation. We must have adequate help and supervision in order to ensure a safe and fun environment for all. There are currently 51 open spots from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. on June 5. The majority of the spots are under two hours each.

Bean Bag and Lounge chairs are needed for students to relax upon. It's a long night and previous classes have truly appreciated the comfortable seating to take a breather between activities. All bean bag chairs must be brought to the Commons prior to the event on Saturday morning between 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The chairs will be returned to you and available for pick up on Sunday, June 5.

Driving in Work Zones

Drivers need to slow down whenever they see flashing lights, or move over to leave the lane beside the work zone open. In some construction areas, lowered speed limits are posted and must be obeyed at all times.

  • Don't fool around. Eliminate distractions like eating, drinking, talking on the phone, or fiddling with electronic devices.
  • Expect the unexpected. Speed limits may be reduced, traffic lanes may be changed, and people and vehicles may be working on or near the road.
  • Slow down. A car traveling 60 mph travels 88 feet per second, and the faster you go the longer it takes to stop.
  • Give yourself room. Rear-end collisions are the most common work zone crashes, so don't tailgate.
  • Allow about three seconds of braking distance. Look for signs. Orange, diamond-shaped signs usually give you ample warning of lane closings, construction areas, and flaggers and other workers ahead.
  • Be patient. If you don't see workers, that doesn't mean they're not there. Observe the signs until you see one that says you've left the work zone.
  • Plan ahead. Leave early or map out an alternate route. Find the latest road conditions and work zone news at 511 Wisconsin Travel Information.
  • Follow the law. Slow down and move over, if possible, when you see flashing lights.
