Waunakee Public Safety Blood Drive

Waunakee Fire Department
401 West 2nd Street
April 17, 2021
9:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Waunakee Police, Fire, and EMS are partnering together to host a Waunakee Public Safety BLOOD DRIVE on April 17, 2021. Waunakee Fire has opened up their doors as a location, and American Red Cross is excited to work with our agencies for such a desperate cause. American Red Cross has been hosting blood drives during the ongoing pandemic successfully and safely. All precautions are being taken.

This year, we have repeatedly seen that COVID-19 has been the reason for cancelled events. But for a blood drive, COVID-19 IS the reason for the event. Blood banks are in critical need. Often times, donors have a person in mind as their reason for giving. In our case, with our professions, we never know when WE will be the one needing blood. My personal "why" is my Godson, Calvin, who received a liver transplant at UW Childrens Hospital at just 2 months old. He is a miracle and is growing and thriving, but needs transfusions every few months.

Whatever may call you to give, I feel that this also is an awesome way to work with and show our community that we can partner together for a greater cause.

This is not just for Waunakee Public Safety members. This invitation is to everyone. If you have a family member, friend, neighbor, or ANYONE who you may think would like to give, reach out to them. Providing contact info does NOT sign you up or commit you to a donation. It simply shows interest, and you will be contacted with information on how to book your appointment on April 17th!

If you are interested in donating, please contact Officer Rachael Martin with Waunakee PD at rmartin@waunakeepd.org. Include your name, email, and phone number, as well as this same information for additional contacts who are interested in donating.

Have questions about the donation process, what to expect, or more? Here’s a helpful link:

Waunakee WRAP Workshop with Muralist Emily Balsley - May 15th, 2021

Community members ages 14+ can join us at the Waunakee Public Library on Saturday, May 15th, 2021 for an educational and hands-on workshop as part of Waunakee’s first ever year participating in the Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP)!
Murals are a powerful art form. They can inspire, educate, persuade, entice emotions, or tell a story. They can completely change the vibe of a space. They invite viewers in and become a destination. All of that in one wall! Do you have an idea you’d love to see painted at a large scale? Do you love the thought of painting a mural, but have no idea how to start? Are you intimidated by the idea of “going big”? Or do you simply want to learn more about the process of painting a mural? If so, then this workshop is for you.
Join Emily Balsley, Madison-based illustrator, and mural artist as she walks you through the steps of painting your first mural. From finding the right space, to tools & supplies, to navigating transfer methods, and learning some tips & tricks, Emily will cover it all in this comprehensive workshop. There will even be an opportunity to help Emily paint a custom mural designed specifically for the Village of Waunakee! Take a peek here at some of her work: http://www.emilybalsley.com/murals
A virtual workshop option is available as well. The workshop will be live streamed via zoom and virtual participants will receive:
- A link to join the zoom meeting.
- A scaled down version of the mural being painted at the workshop.
- Booklet with the presentation information.
- Set of Acrylic Paints & Brushes
This workshop is included for registered WRAP participants who have submitted artwork to the exhibition and further registration is not required.
Non-participant community members ages 14+ can register via the link below and participate in the workshop for a $5.00 fee.

For questions about the Waunakee WRAP Workshop & Exhibition, please contact coordinators Todd Schmidt, Village Administrator or Kylie West at (608) 850-2182 or administrator@waunakee.com.

Heritage Hills Blasting

The contractor for the Heritage Hills subdivision, at the corner of North Division Street and STH 19/113, will be blasting (one blast) between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

There will be three air horn signals sounded one minute prior to each blast followed by one prolonged air horn signal after each blast is deemed all clear. On average each blast duration is 500 milliseconds, equivalent to half of a second.

Ground vibration and air blast will be measured by Vibra-Tech with three permanent seismographs located on the West and North side of the subdivision property. All drilling and blasting operations will be conducted in accordance with:
