Snowy Afternoon at the Farm

Schumacher Farm Park
5682 Hwy 19
Saturday, February 2, 2019
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

What would rural farming families do on a wintry February day? Snow sports and snow forts! We invite you to join us at the top of the hill for a snowy afternoon on the farm. Take your snow sled for a few runs or give snowshoes a spin. Find out what a quinzee hut is and how to build one. Check out the historic barn for hot cocoa and cool trivia about how animals survive winter. Warm beverages provided. Bring your own sled. The Village of Waunakee Recreation Department will provide a
limited number of snowshoes and brief instruction.

Pellitteri Canceling Service Due to Weather

Due to the extreme cold and the State of Emergency, Pellitteri will be canceling all services for Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31. Pellitteri will not be rescheduling services, but rather canceling them.

Residents that normally receive trash pickup on Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31 will not receive pickup this week. Pellitteri will collect additional bags of trash up to 32 gallon/50 lb. bags placed next to your carts next week on their normal pickup day. Trash materials must be bagged.

Residents that normally receive recycling pickup on Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31 will not receive service this week. However, Pellitteri will service for recycling on their off-week on February 6 and February 7.

We realize this may cause an inconvenience for residents. However, with such cold temperatures Pellitteri must consider the safety of their drivers and also the reality of probable mechanical issues for their trucks.

We would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word to residents.

Weather Alert

In recognition of the extreme low temperatures forecasted through Thursday January 31, the Village of Waunakee encourages those with immediate safety concerns related to the cold temperatures to contact the Village of Waunakee Police Department at 608-849-4523. Village emergency management officials have convened to ensure readiness in the case of any emergency. The extreme conditions over the next few days and nights warrant enhanced caution and citizens are encouraged to stay indoors. Please consider checking on your neighbors and family for the duration of these conditions.

As always, those with immediate emergencies should call 9-1-1.
