WNC Car Wash

April showers bring May flowers, but your car may be in a need of a shower! On May 31st from 4:00 - 6:00 PM, Rachel Rydzewski and the seventh graders from Waunakee Community Middle School will be having a car wash to benefit Waunakee Neighborhood Connection (WNC) at the Waunakee Summit Credit Union! Monetary donations are greatly appreciated as well as donations of shampoo for WNC.

School Supplies Collection

It's that time of year to kick off our "Fill the Bus" campaign by donating all of the school supplies you didn't use throughout the school year, to make sure all students have their necessary supplies for next year! We'll gladly accept generous donations of new school supplies as well! Put your new and used school supplies into the WNC purple bins located at St. John's School and all Waunakee public schools (except Prairie Elementary). Watch for them from May 21st to the end of the school year.

Schumacher Farm Park Needs Volunteers!

Do you like to wack weeds, trim around bushes with a lawn mower, weed the flower garden and other light duty yard work? Then this job is for you! We are looking for people to help  keep our grounds, flower beds and strawberry patch looking great throughout the summer. Volunteer a minimum 2-4 hours a week throughout the warm months. All tools are provided including gloves or bring your own.

Schumacher Farm County Park is a 100 acre open-air museum and conservancy dedicated to preserving old-time rural farm ways of Dane County. It is owned by Dane County Parks and run by the Friends of Schumacher Farm Park, a non-profit organization.

Birthday Cake/Frosting for WNC

Waunakee Girl Scout Troop 2810 will be collecting cake mix and frosting at Piggly Wiggly on May 19th and 20th for Waunakee Neighborhood Connection's (WNC) birthday bags! WNC gives out birthday bags of goodies to their clients during their birthday month and thanks to the support of our donors and the hard work of Troop 2810, all birthday bags are hand decorated with a personal touch. This activity will help the troop earn their Bronze Award!

Waunakee Rotary Offering Scholarships

The Waunakee Rotary Club is offering two scholarships to area high school students to attend the 2012 World Affair Seminar. Global Communication 2.0 - Technology's Impact on Understanding. The World Affairs Seminar is a District 6270 Rotary initiative that draws over 400 students from all over the world for a week long intensive study of global communication and its impact on societies. This event is being held June 16-22, 2012, at Carroll University in Waukesha. Teens will listen to experts, build leadership skills, collaborate with their peers to explore issues and solve problems and learn how to become one of the leaders who will help shape the world of tomorrow.

Kopp Road Closure

Kopp Road will again be closed to all traffic from the Meadowbrook Park entrance to Hellenbrand Road beginning at approximatly 9:00 AM on Thursday, May 10, 2012 for the installation of underground utilities for the Westbridge Development. The road will be closed to all vehiclular traffic including emergency vehicles until approximately noon on Friday, May 11, 2012.

Neighborhood Listening Session

Please join us for a Neighborhood Listening Session at Prairie Elementary School on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 6:00 PM hosted by President John Laubmeier and Village Administrator Todd Schmidt. Prairie Elementary is located at 700 North Madison Street and the Listening Session will be held in the Cafeteria.

The purpose of this listening session is to give your neighborhood the opportunity to meet with the Village administrative staff and departments and elected officials to discuss issues and ask village services questions.

Relay For Life: Students vs. Faculty Basketball Game


Help find a cure for childhood cancer.  Guest speakers will include Madi Aiello's mother, Mary and Tim Keenen.  Halftime with Wisconsin Badgers: Leo Musso, Jack Russell, Austin Maly, and Derek Straus. Each Badger will have their own "team" to compete against each other in a challenge, competitors will be chosen from a drawing the evening of the event.  $4 admission, $1 to enter the drawing.   

*The Student vs. Staff basketball game raises money for the High School's Relay for Life team and for the American Cancer Society.*
