Here is a link to the supplement for the July 1, 2019 meeting:
Supplement
This is an unofficial version of the agenda in which the Village Administrator adds some summary and straight forward commentary on the agenda items to be considered during the upcoming meeting. The purpose is to help citizens better understand the agenda items and action requests that are before the Board. You might consider it a succinct summary of the memos and attachments included in the full meeting packet. We are asking for feedback on this new agenda supplement. Please reach out to Village Administrator Todd Schmidt with your feedback. 608-850-2182 or administrator@waunakee.com.
This will be tried for a couple of months before considering whether to continue, adjust or discontinue, so your feedback is important.

Waunakee Area EMS to be Recognized at WaunaBoom
2019 marks the Waunakee Area EMS Department’s 40th anniversary of proudly serving the Villages of Waunakee and Dane and the Townships of Westport, Dane, Vienna and Springfield. The department was chartered in 1979 under the direction of George Kolb. What started as an all-volunteer department serving 8,757 citizens and answering 255 calls for service has grown into a combination department with volunteer, part-time and full-time staffing serving 21,735 citizens and answering 1,300 calls for service. Having started with 20 members in 1979, the department is currently at 61 members helping staff our ambulance 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Over these last 40 years, Waunakee Area EMS has been at the forefront of innovation, piloting Dane County’s field ECG transmission program and being the first department in the county to move to an EMT I-Tech level service. Both of these ventures were large stepping stones not only for the communities served, but also for the entire emergency medical industry in the area. The time and dedication that it takes to achieve what this department has over the years is no small feat. None of this would have been possible without the dedication and selflessness of every one of the members over the last four decades.
In recognition of the Waunakee Area EMS Department, a special presentation will be made at Ripp Park on July 4th during the Waunaboom festivities. Village President Chris Zellner will lead the presentation from the stage during a live music break. All community members are welcome to be part of celebrating the work of our EMS Department.

Message from Village President Chris Zellner:
Last night’s Village Board meeting (June 17, 2019) was the perfect example of how government is designed to work. Susan Springman resigned as trustee of the Village Board this past week and was no longer seated as a Board member for the first time in 14 years. She shared her time, expertise and passion for Waunakee as a Trustee and will be deeply missed. However, business must go on. The Village Board had a very good discussion to establish a process for filling the Trustee Vacancy. It is my pleasure to welcome those in our community to consider applying for the position.
Within a week an application form will be made available via the Village website, social media, and at Village Hall. They will be due back to Deputy Administrator / Village Clerk Caitlin Stene by July 15th. After that date I, along with Trustee Joe Zitzelsberger, will interview selected applicants. I and Trustee Zitzelsberger will hold those interviews at an open public meeting (date yet to be determined). Then, as Village President, I will provide a recommended Trustee appointment to the Village Board on or before August 5th.
Anyone with questions about this process or the duties of Village Trustees is welcome to contact Village Administrator Todd Schmidt at tschmidt@waunakee.com or 608-850-8500.
