Public Open House Regarding Potential Zoning Changes to the Village's Code

Monday, April 23, 2018
Waunakee Village Hall
500 West Main Street
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

The Public is invited to attend an open house with Village Staff regarding proposed zoning changes. Village staff will be discussing and seeking public input on a number of potential zoning changes for consideration by the Village Plan Commission and Village Board. Due to the fact that most of the zoning code has not been updated in 20 years, there could be instances where changes and clarification may be in order to comply with the current Comprehensive Plan.

Barrels on Main

The Village is seeking creative artists!

The Village of Waunakee’s annual Art on Main program rolls out once again with Barrels on Main. The fourth iteration of Waunakee’s original public art project aims to build on the past success of projects like Trains on Main (2017) in developing the Village’s creative identity.

Presented in collaboration with Endres Mfg. Company and the Waunakee Area Chamber of Commerce, Barrels on Main invites the community to rethink the typical arts canvas as local artists lend their creative talents to transform 10 wooden barrels. Artists will receive a barrel with a steel base to use as the backdrop for sharing what Waunakee means to them. Artists will also be provided with a $250 stipend, courtesy of the Waunakee Area Chamber of Commerce and Endres Mfg. Company.

The finished barrels will be on view at the Waunakee Area Chamber of Commerce depot building from Monday, July 9 to Friday, September 14, 2018. After the barrels are removed from view, they will be auctioned off to the community at Wauktoberfest on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Proceeds will support future community projects through the Waunakee Creative Economy Initiative and the EMC Foundation.

Those interested in applying must currently live or work in the school district limits of the Village of Waunakee or be a graduate of Waunakee Community High School.

For more details on the project, timeline, and application requirements, visit the Village’s Barrels on Main web page or contact Adam Bentley, Assistant Village Administrator at abentley@waunakee.com or 608-850-2182.
