Neighborhood Listening Session

Arboretum Elementary School Library
1350 Arboretum Drive
Waunakee, WI 53597
Wednesday, January 22, 2020
6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Please join Village President Chris Zellner for a Neighborhood Listening Session at Arboretum Elementary School in Waunakee. Listening sessions are held several times throughout the year at different locations around the Village. Anyone is welcome to attend.

The purpose of the listening session is to give Village residents the opportunity to meet informally with Village President Chris Zellner and members of the Village’s management team to discuss issues and ask questions. Topics of discussion can cover a variety of issues including Waunakee’s growth, improvements and current projects, conditions of the neighborhood, traffic, public safety issues, or any other Village-related issues.

We are eager to hear from you and your neighbors in this comfortable and informal setting. If you are unable to attend but have something you would like to discuss with us, please contact Village Administrator Todd Schmidt at 608-850-5227 or administrator@waunakee.com.

Community Development Authority Seeking Volunteers

The Village is seeking interested citizen volunteers to fill two open positions on the Community Development Authority (CDA). The CDA will be meeting once a month in the evenings. Among other things, the CDA is tasked with using the results of Waunakee Housing Task Force to evaluate and recommend potential policy changes. State statutes indicate that necessary qualifications include sufficient ability and experience in the fields of urban renewal, community development, and housing. Interested citizens should apply by Sunday, January 26, 2020 to be considered. The application is available online at http://www.vil.waunakee.wi.us/431/Application-to-Volunteer. Questions may be directed to Village Administrator Todd Schmidt at (608)850-2182 or administrator@waunakee.com.

Recycling Tips - Food Contamination

Did you know that food left in recyclable containers can contaminate a whole batch of recycling? It's important to remember that containers need to be free of food and food residue before tossing them in our recycling bins. Please take a few minutes to watch the video below to learn more about food contamination in our recycling stream.

Winter Weather Reminders

With the predicted impending snow event, the Village would like to remind residents of the following:

Snow Removal from Sidewalks, Driveways and Parking Lots
Snow blowing or shoveling/plowing snow into Village streets is prohibited by Village ordinance (sec. 58.320-b) and causes problems in our roadways. This also applies to all snow-removal contractors. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Placement of Trash Containers
Please remember that trash and recycle containers must be placed behind the curb - not in the street. Placement anywhere else is prohibited by Village ordinance (sec. 54.64-a, 2) and may cause problems in the maintenance of our streets.

Alternate Parking
The Village of Waunakee's alternate side parking Ordinance Sec. 94.83 (3) will be in effect from 12 midnight through 6:00 a.m. from November 1 to April 1. To ensure you are not in violation, please follow these steps:

- Think of what the date will be between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
- If the date is even-numbered, park on the even house numbered side of the street.
- If the date is odd-numbered, park on the odd house numbered side of the street.

If possible, please keep parked vehicles off the streets when it snows.
*Does not apply to private streets.
