Friends of the Public Library Plant Sale
The Friends of the Waunakee Public Library are hosting their annual perennial plant sale. You can special-order locally and professionally grown perennial plants at below-market prices and benefit the Friends of Waunakee Public Library! All plants are in 3-1/2" pots and cost just $3.25 each. Choose from 14 different varieties. Pick up an order form at the library or access one online at www.waupl.org. Send or deliver your order with payment to the library or mail to Jim Elvekrog, Treasurer, at 401 Doral Court, Waunakee. Orders are due Friday, March 8th. Thanks for your support!

Native Plantings and Rain Gardens have Ripple Effects on our Waters
Convert some of your turf grass or pavement into a native garden this spring. Not only are native plants beautiful, but they provide important ecosystem services such as habitat for local wildlife and improved water quality. Native plants act as sponges helping rainwater to soak into the ground preventing storm water runoff from draining into our lakes, rivers and streams.The Plant Dane Program provides Dane County residents access to native plants at the discounted price of $2.25/plant, about half the normal retail price. Native plant orders will be accepted through March 20, 2019.

TID No. 10 - Woodland Crest - Draft Project Plan Available for Review
The draft project plan for the proposed Tax Increment District No. 10 is available for review on the Village website.
Tax Incremental District (“TID”) No. 10 (“District”) is a proposed Mixed-Use District comprising approximately 12 acres located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Woodland Drive and County Highway Q. The District will be created to pay the costs of a development incentive for installation of public infrastructure needed to facilitate development of Woodland Crest, a mixed-use development (“Project”). The area to be included within the District represents a portion of the overall Project which includes approximately 30 acres of planned commercial, office and senior and other multi-family housing that will be developed by Forward Development Group (“Developer”). In addition to the incremental property value that will be created, the Village expects the Project will provide the community with additional retail and commercial services, housing opportunities, and employment opportunities.
The Plan Commission will be holding a public hearing regarding the proposed TID No. 10 on March 11, 2019 at 6:00 PM at Village Hall (500 W. Main Street). The public is invited to attend the public hearing and provide feedback on the proposed District.

Update on Waunakee's Current Village Library
Many in the community have asked the question, “What’s going to happen to the current Village library when the new library opens?” There are several options for the Village to consider.
One option that has recently come to light is potential interest from the owners of Mill House Quilts to move to the current library building from their location on Waunakee’s Main Street. Because of a need to increase the size of their facility and other factors, the current owners have informed the Village that they are considering other potential locations for their business (including purchasing rather than leasing). Unfortunately, they have not yet found an option in the Village that will suit their needs. With that in mind, Village officials are beginning to have discussions about the potential for the current library site to serve their business and their customers long into the future. These discussions with Mill House Quilts do not preclude the Village from considering an array of other outcomes for the current library building; however, at this moment, Village officials hope to vet thoroughly this potential opportunity.
Updates will be provided at future meetings of the Village Board. Anyone with questions are welcome to contact Village Administrator Todd Schmidt at (608)850-5227 or tschmidt@waunakee.com.
