Joint Waunakee-Westport Comprehensive Plan Update Website
The 2016 Joint Waunakee-Westport Comprehensive Plan Update website is now live!
We need your help! The Village of Waunakee and the Town of Westport are seeking your input as we jointly update our Comprehensive Plan and Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan. These plans are important documents for charting our future as mature and vibrant communities. Staff use these plans to guide decision making of the elected body and related committees, apply for federal and state grants, and advise potential developers. These plans are also used when making annual budgeting decisions and prioritizing various public projects. To be clear, these plans do not and should not reflect the interests of just our elected officials and staff. What is most important is that these plans reflect the desires and hopes of all of the community stakeholders - citizens, taxpayers, and business owners.

Barns on Main Proposal Deadline Extended to March 25th
The Village of Waunakee in partnership with Endres Manufacturing and the Chamber of Commerce, is happy to announce the second annual Waunakee Public Art Project. Last year's project, Goats on Main, was successful in developing a creative and innovative approach to the identity of Waunakee. The Village and its partners would like to build on this project and see it taken even further.
This year's project, Barns on Main, will coincide with the capital campaign being run by Schumacher Farm to complete renovations on their historic barn property. Endres Manufacturing will again donate steel cutouts, this time in the shape of a barn with a silo, as well as $100 stipends to each artist. The Chamber has also decided to generously donate an additional $100 stipend, which means each artist will receive $200 to complete this project. In addition, this year we are able to select 15 artists instead of 10 to complete a public art piece, and artists will have twice as long to work on their piece compared to last year.
Those interested in applying must currently live/work within the school district limits of Waunakee, or be a graduate of the Waunakee Community School District. Full proposals are due by March 25, 2016.

Roger Bindl Presents "Marcella & the Schumacher Farm Park"
Marcella Schumacher was born in 1910, and grew up on her family farm located at 5682 Hwy. 19.
Marcella gifted the farm as a living history museum and conservancy to educate and demonstrate for people what life was like in the 1920's and 30's. This video tells a part of that story and shows how the farm has been used and restored by Friends of Schumacher Farm Park. It also highlights some of the events that go on throughout each year and different ways that you can get involved.
