Keep Leaves and Grass Clippings Close to Home

When our streets and walkways are clear of leaves and grass clippings, local lakes and streams benefit. Leaves and grass contain significant amounts of phosphorus which promotes algae growth in Six Mile Creek and Lake Mendota.

Bicycle safety is also impacted when vegetation is left on the road.

Waunakee's ordinance Section 58-8 prohibits persons from placing leaves or grass clippings onto the pavement or into the gutter of any public streets.

Help keep our waterways clean and our streets and sidewalks safe by placing leaves and grass at the property line or above.
