Waunakee Neighborhood Connection Needs Volunteers
Volunteer. Build a stronger community. Borrow sugar.
In the upcoming months, Waunakee Neighborhood Connection will be hosting several volunteer informational sessions to learn about current opportunities to make a positive difference.
In our ever-changing culture, we all want to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. We want to feel connected. Social media and busy lives have moved us from the neighborhoods of the past when neighbors borrowed a cup of sugar or a few eggs. It is time to reconnect with one another, to lend a helping hand, and focus on what connects us, not what divides us.
At Waunakee Neighborhood Connection, our mission is to engage neighbors to support and empower one another. Our free store allows neighbors to shop for items to offset other household costs, our seasonal programs provide holiday support and school supplies, and our other programs provide an opportunity for families to feel empowered and overcome challenges that they are facing.
All of these programs are powered by volunteerism! We have numerous volunteer opportunities, appropriate for a variety of skill and interest levels. Each of these provides ways for adults, students, and families to participate in meaningful volunteerism.

Creative Wall at the Hall with Mike Chamberlin
Scratching the surface of aluminum allows light to reflect off the surface from different angles creating amazing holographic effects of depth and space on a two dimensional object. Mike Chamberlin’s artwork, created from scrap aluminum, allows for these striking pieces to change right before the viewer’s eyes depending upon the different light intensity.
To view Mike's artwork and learn more about his artistic talents, while supporting local creativity and innovation, please plan to stop by the Village Hall, 500 W. Main Street, during business hours.

Join us the Friends of Schumacher Farm for their Annual Heritage Fest. Keeping true to the farm's heritage and mission of preservation and education, demonstrations of steam-powered antique threshing machines and 1920-30s harvesting techniques will be held throughout the day.
Throughout the farm, guests are invited to participate in cooking in the farm’s kitchen using herbs and foods from the Heritage Garden. Small farm animals will be hanging out at the farm so folks can get a close-up look, get to know them and pet the different animals. They can also try their hand at woodworking, weaving, knitting, spinning, cider making, and many other crafts.
House tours, horse-drawn wagon rides, scavenger hunts and old-fashioned games will be going on all day so bring the whole family!
Also this year; a tractor show, sampling station from the UW beet-breeding program and musical entertainment by a barbershop quartet.
